A$AP Rocky will fund a four-year, full-tuition scholarship for a single first-time freshman at the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment at Long Island University, the rapper-actor announced this week.
Applications opened at apply.liu.edu/rn and close on December 15, 2026. The award covers tuition for the recipient's four years at the school, beginning with Fall 2027 enrollment.
What does the scholarship cover?
The grant supports one student across all four years of study. Eligible applicants must seek admission to the Roc Nation School as first-time freshmen for Fall 2027. The announcement describes the program as a setting that "connect[s] academic learning with real-world opportunities across the entertainment industry."
"I'm a big believer in creating your own lane and giving people the opportunity to do the same," A$AP Rocky said. "There are so many talented young people with ideas, ambition and something important to say. This scholarship is about helping one of them turn that vision into something real."
The dollar value of the award was not disclosed.
Who else has funded scholarships at the Roc Nation School?
Rocky joins a roster of donors that includes DJ Khaled, Megan Thee Stallion, and NBA All-Star LaMelo Ball. Grammy-winning engineer and producer Young Guru — who also serves as Director of the school's Music Technology, Entrepreneurship & Production program — has established a scholarship as well.
How does the school's existing aid program work?
The Roc Nation School launched at LIU in Fall 2021, five years before Rocky's announcement. The school operates the Roc Nation Hope Scholarships, which fund full four-year tuition for 25 percent of enrolled students. Hope Scholars come from a pool of academically competitive, New York-based, first-time freshmen with the highest financial need.
Rocky, who appeared on the cover of Variety in May 2025, is the most recent entertainer to attach his name to a named scholarship at the Brooklyn campus. His gift mirrors the four-year, single-recipient model of the Hope Scholarships but does not restrict eligibility to New York residents or to applicants who demonstrate financial need. Rocky's award is open to any first-time freshman applicant to the program.
What comes next?
The December 15, 2026 deadline gives candidates roughly twelve months to assemble applications before the Fall 2027 entry point. Selection will proceed through LIU's standard admissions process for the Roc Nation School. By underwriting a single seat rather than contributing to a pooled fund, Rocky has aligned his philanthropy with the longer-duration structure that defines the school's flagship aid program — a model the institution has used since its 2021 founding to bring New York-area talent into the entertainment pipeline.
