Barry Manilow canceled his Friday and Saturday concerts at the Westgate in Las Vegas after bronchitis forced him off stage two songs into Friday's performance. The cancellations came one night after his long-delayed residency return opened without incident on Thursday.
"After a triumphant welcome-back concert on Thursday, Barry got hit with bronchitis and had to cancel his Friday and Saturday shows," Manilow's representatives told Variety.
The weekend marked the singer's first Westgate appearances since his cancer recovery. His Las Vegas residency had been postponed repeatedly — from May 2026 to July 2026 and finally to October 2026 — while he recovered from surgery to remove what he described as a "cancerous spot" on his lung, a diagnosis he revealed publicly last December.
What happened at the Westgate?
Manilow performed Thursday's opening show in full. On Friday, he stopped the concert after just two songs. He then called off Saturday's performance altogether.
The singer did manage to complete his The Last Concerts farewell tour this summer, between the residency postponements and this week's return to Las Vegas.
Why this bout of bronchitis carries extra weight
Bronchitis has shaped Manilow's recent medical history. A previous case proved severe enough that follow-up tests uncovered stage 1 lung cancer.
"As many of you know I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks," Manilow said in late 2025. "Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI to make sure that everything was OK."
He added at the time: "The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed. It's pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early. That's the good news."
When will Manilow perform next?
Manilow is next scheduled to perform October 15, 16 and 17 at the Westgate — the second weekend of a residency currently booked through April 2027. Whether those dates hold will depend on how quickly the 82-year-old singer's current illness resolves.
