Cage the Elephant will release their new album, Dying in Reverse, on Feb. 5, 2027. The Kentucky band previewed the record with a single, "Make It Easy," a mid-tempo rock number they also performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Justin Raisen and SADPONY produced the album. A press release says the record finds the band embracing "experimentation, spontaneity and the chemistry of working through ideas together in the room."
Frontman Matthew Shultz framed the album as a turning point for the group. "This record turned out to be such a special one for us," Shultz said in a statement. "It's without a doubt, one of the most creatively gratifying experiences we've had as a group yet."
He went further, describing the record as a closing of one chapter and the start of another. "After all these years already remaining so tightly knit, it really does feel like this album managed to pull us even closer together," Shultz said. "In a way, it's a goodbye to the past, closing the door on an era, with a renewed perspective grounded in the present while also walking towards the future with hope and gratitude. Signifying a rebirth of sorts."
Shultz also pointed to the album's personal undercurrents. "It's got all these interesting little windows into the memories and experiences that have shaped who we are as individuals, as well as ultimately a band," he said. "I just love it so much. We can't wait to share it with the world."
What comes before the album?
Dying in Reverse follows the band's 2024 album, Neon Pill. Cage the Elephant have already shared several tracks from the new record, including the title track and "Beaches In Tennessee."
The album runs 12 songs:
- Influence
- Make It Easy
- Beaches In Tennessee
- Wound Up
- Dying In Reverse
- Leave The Light On
- I Love You Anyway
- Cherry Cola
- Crossfaded
- Why U Keeping Me Around
- Give Me One Good Reason
- Wear The Daylight
What does this change for fans?
The album announcement arrives alongside a major live slot. Cage the Elephant will headline the halftime show at the 2026 NFL Munich Game on Nov. 15, where the New England Patriots face the Detroit Lions.
The band has also mapped an extensive tour for next year. The trek opens in Berlin on Feb. 8, 2027 — three days after the album's release — positioning the European run as the first full showcase of the new material in a live setting.
With "Make It Easy" already in circulation and two more tracks released ahead of the record, nearly a third of Dying in Reverse is public before the album arrives, giving listeners a substantial preview of the Raisen- and SADPONY-helmed sessions.
