- Barrie Kosky stages Wagner's complete Ring cycle at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in 2027.

The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, has announced the casting for its complete Ring cycle, to be staged by Barrie Kosky in 2027.
Christopher Maltman will sing Wotan across all three operas in which the role appears: Das Rheingold, Die Walküre and Siegfried (as Der Wanderer). Elisabet Strid takes Brünnhilde in Die Walküre, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung. Andreas Schager sings Siegfried in the final two operas of the tetralogy.
The lineup, rolled out today, pairs a core of returning principals with a roster of British and international singers across the supporting roles.

Several singers carry their roles across multiple operas. Leigh Melrose sings Alberich in Rheingold, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung. Soloman Howard doubles as Fafner in two operas and Hunding in Walküre. Marina Prudenskaya's Fricka spans Rheingold and Walküre. The three Rhinemaidens — Sarah Brady, Niamh O'Sullivan and Marvic Monreal — bookend the cycle, appearing in Rheingold and returning for Götterdämmerung. Natalya Romaniw sings both Sieglinde and Gutrune.
Kosky's Ring arrives at Covent Garden as one of the most anticipated staged projects of the coming seasons, and this casting signals a house betting on continuity: one Wotan, one Brünnhilde and one Siegfried across the entire tetralogy.
