A+E Global Media's executive VP of communications Dan Silberman is leaving after 20 years — and more than 25 years in television — to become head of marketing and communications at the AI company Sol.
Silberman will report to Sol managing partner Kaan Aslansan and remain based in New York. His remit covers brand, marketing and communications strategy, including "positioning and narrative, earned media, content and thought leadership, digital presence, internal communications and reputation management."
Why is an AI firm hiring a television PR veteran?
Sol works with businesses on implementing AI workflow. Its offerings center on "agentic AI systems, workflow modernization and workforce transformation" across media, entertainment, adtech, state and local government, and education.
Aslansan framed the hire as a growth signal. "We've built Sol on the strength of our delivery. Now we're investing in making sure the market knows it," Aslansan said in a statement. "Dan has built and defended brands under genuine public scrutiny, at a scale most firms never touch. He's exactly what this next phase of growth needs, and he'll make sure the market sees what our clients already do."
The message: Sol wants a bigger public profile than its size suggests it can buy, and it is betting a crisis-tested communications executive can close that gap.
What did Silberman run at A+E?
At A+E Global Media, Silberman oversaw media relations, corporate and internal communications, crisis management, social strategy and talent relations for a portfolio of brands:
- A&E Network
- History Channel
- A+E Factual Studios
- A&E Indie Films
He began his career at New York's Rubenstein Communications. He later joined Bravo Media, where he helped transform the cable network into a pop culture destination on the strength of early hits like "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" and "Project Runway."
Silberman said: "Twenty-five years in television taught me that attention follows the story you tell about your work, not just the work itself. Sol is competing with firms several times its size and winning, which is the rare case where the story is sitting right there waiting to be told. I'm joining a team of doers that is reshaping how their clients operate, and I'm here to make sure it sounds like it."
He added: "I've made a career of learning a new business from the best people in it. I want Sol to be the name people already know when we walk in the room."
What does the move signal?
A 25-year television communications chief moving to an AI services firm marks another case of legacy-media talent migrating toward the AI sector. For Sol, the hire doubles down on visibility — hiring a brand builder who has managed reputations at network scale. For A+E Global Media, the exit closes a two-decade tenure that spanned some of cable's most recognizable brands.
