Daniel Henney has joined the cast of Apple TV+'s upcoming action thriller "Disavowed," where he'll play Jae Chun, a successful attorney to high-profile figures, Variety reported exclusively.

The series follows what its logline calls a "legendary CIA case officer Brad Griffin, who is abruptly fired in the middle of a global hunt for an elusive assassin responsible for killing his colleague. Disgraced and outcast from the world of intelligence, all bets are off when Brad decides to go after the 15 million dollar federal bounty on the assassin's head."

A 15-million-dollar bounty. That's the engine of the plot. It's a tidy sum for a man with nothing left to lose.

Who else is in the cast?

Henney joins a cast that already carries real weight:

  • James Marsden stars as Brad Griffin, the disgraced CIA officer
  • Norman Reedus, known for "The Walking Dead"
  • Bokeem Woodbine, of FX's "Fargo"
  • Daniel Henney as Jae Chun, attorney to high-profile figures

Apple announced the series back in May with Marsden attached to the lead. The streamer has not yet set a release date. Patience, presumably, is part of the package.

Who is Daniel Henney?

Henney is best known to fantasy audiences as Lan Mandragoran, opposite Rosamund Pike, in Prime Video's "The Wheel of Time." The American actor started in Korea with the 2005 romantic comedy-drama "My Lovely Sam-Soon," then crossed into American television via "Criminal Minds" and its spinoff "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders." His film credits include "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," "Big Hero 6" — in which he voiced Tadashi Hamada — and "Missing." He also voices Jinn in the English version of the Netflix series "Genie, Make a Wish."

A career that runs from Seoul romantic comedy to prime-time procedural to big-voice animation is not a common arc. Henney has made it look almost routine.

Who is making 'Disavowed'?

Art Marcum and Matt Holloway created the series and serve as executive producers. Tom Spezialy and James Marsden also executive produce. Blue Marble Pictures produces, with Theresa Kang and Caroline Garity as executive producers, and Apple Studios is also producing.

Henney is represented by Buchwald, More Medavoy Management and Toczik Suddleson Law Group.

With casting now filling out and the creative team set, the remaining question is timing. Apple has given no release window, so viewers chasing Marsden's bounty hunter will simply have to wait for the streamer to name a date.
