Programme

  1. Hum's 2027 tour runs March 3 (Atlanta) to July 17 (San Francisco), their first proper tour since 2015.
  2. All 12 dates feature the Life and Times; Pelican opens East Coast shows and Spotlights opens West Coast dates.
  3. The Slide Away festival sets in the announcement year were Hum's first shows in nearly seven years and the first live performances of 2020 album Inlet.
  4. Original drummer Bryan St. Pere died in 2021; Jason Gerken of the Shiners returns on drums.
  5. Hum's prior studio gap ran from 1997's Downward Is Heavenward to 2020's Inlet.

Hum will tour the United States in 2027, the Illinois shoegaze band's first proper run since 2015. The trek opens at The Eastern in Atlanta on March 3 and closes at The Warfield in San Francisco on July 17, according to the band's announcement.

The itinerary covers twelve dates across the country:

  • March: Atlanta (03/03, The Eastern), Houston (03/05, House of Blues), Dallas (03/06, The Bomb Factory), Austin (03/07, United Heritage Hall)
  • April–May: Denver (04/22, Mission Ballroom), Kansas City (04/24, The Midland Theatre), Philadelphia (05/20, Franklin Music Hall), Washington, D.C. (05/21, The Anthem), New York (05/22, Terminal 5), Boston (05/23, Roadrunner)
  • July: Seattle (07/13, Showbox SoDo), San Francisco (07/17, The Warfield)

Who's on the bill?

Every date features support from the Life and Times, the Kansas City band led by Allen Epley. Chicago post-metal group Pelican (a heavier, instrumental-leaning offshoot of the metal scene) opens the East Coast shows — Philadelphia through Boston. Brooklyn trio Spotlights takes the opening slot on the West Coast dates in Seattle and San Francisco.

Why does this tour matter?

It builds on momentum the band recovered this year. Hum headlined the traveling shoegaze festival Slide Away alongside Chapterhouse and Nothing, and those sets drew a strong reception. They were Hum's first shows in nearly seven years.

That hiatus carried real weight. Original drummer Bryan St. Pere died in 2021. The Shiners' Jason Gerken, who first sat behind the kit for Hum's 2015 tour and returned for Slide Away, will play drums again on the 2027 dates.

The Slide Away performances also marked the first time Hum played songs from Inlet, their 2020 album, in front of a live audience. Before Inlet, the band hadn't released a record since 1997's Downward Is Heavenward, which followed their 1995 debut You'd Prefer An Astronaut.

What changes for fans?

For the first time in over a decade, audiences across the country — not just festivalgoers — can hear the Inlet material live, alongside the catalog that made Hum a defining name in 1990s shoegaze (a genre built on blurred guitars and buried vocals). The routing clusters shows into three regional blocks, which means most fans get exactly one nearby chance per leg.

Whether the 2027 run becomes a reunion circuit or a one-off victory lap, it gives the band's late-career catalog the stage time it has never had.
