Jodie Turner-Smith Sued for Allegedly Enabling Brother's Misconduct

Three anonymous women filed a lawsuit against actor Jodie Turner-Smith and her brother, Richard Smith, in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday, alleging sexual misconduct and drug dealing by Smith — and accusing Turner-Smith of enabling his behavior.

The plaintiffs, each identified as a Jane Doe, accuse Smith of engaging them in unwanted sexual activity. The suit names Turner-Smith not as a direct participant but as an alleged enabler. It claims she paid his bills, provided housing and supplied resources that supported his lifestyle — including, allegedly, gifting him an Audi that he used to transport drugs.

"Turner-Smith's role is distinct from Smith's alleged direct conduct," the lawsuit states. "Turner-Smith knew of significant dangers associated with Smith and, despite that knowledge, continued to provide or make available resources that enabled Smith to maintain housing, transportation, and a lifestyle in which the alleged conduct continued."

A representative for Turner-Smith rejected the claims outright in a statement to People. "This is a fictional lawsuit filed by someone who has been harassing Jodie while hiding behind the name Jane Doe. The claims are not true. This is an abuse of the legal system, allowing someone to make up facts and file meritless legal document," the statement reads.

The Allegations in Detail

The first Jane Doe alleges that Smith isolated her in a bedroom in June 2024, refused to let her leave, and pressured her to use drugs and take part in non-consensual sexual activity with him and another man.

The second plaintiff describes a relationship with Smith that began a year earlier and became "increasingly coercive, unhealthy, and controlling." She says he pressured her to use drugs and to engage in non-consensual sex with other men. Her filing also states that she witnessed "drug use, drug sales or distribution activity, sexual parties, firearms, and conduct by Smith that caused her to fear for her safety."

The third Jane Doe alleges that Smith offered her housing in exchange for sex, and that he forced drug use and sexual activity upon her.

The suit now moves through the Los Angeles Superior Court, where Turner-Smith's team has already signalled it will contest the claims as baseless.
