John Mayer Announces Solo Sphere Residency for April 2027

John Mayer will return to Las Vegas' Sphere in April 2027 for a solo residency spanning six dates: April 8, 10, 11, 15, 17 and 18.

The guitarist knows the venue intimately. He served as artistic director for Dead & Company's residencies at the Sphere in 2024 and 2025, commissioning and overseeing the visuals that set a standard few subsequent acts have matched. That Grateful Dead spinoff group effectively ended with the death of Bob Weir in January of this year. Mayer, it turns out, still wants to explore what the marriage of music and groundbreaking visuals can do there — now with his own ensembles.

The format breaks with convention. Each show will offer three configurations in one night: Mayer solo, Mayer with his full band, and the John Mayer Trio. Traditionally these have been separate shows and tours. The triple bill suggests long concerts in the Dead & Company tradition.

Only six dates are confirmed so far, though if the engagement follows the pattern of every other Sphere residency to date, more shows will likely be added as these sell out.

Tickets go on sale to the general public Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. PT through Ticketmaster. An artist pre-sale runs two days earlier, on Oct. 7, with registration open now at JohnMayer.com. A SiriusXM presale follows on Oct. 8.

VIP packages reach the market first, via Ticketmaster on Sept. 30. VIbee packages go on sale the same day and include stays at the adjacent Venetian Hotel. General ticket prices start at $129, according to the announcement.

Mayer's previous work at the Sphere carried high expectations. For the two Dead & Company residencies, he commissioned and oversaw visuals that drew critical acclaim — a high bar set after U2's initial residency that other artists following in their wake have struggled to meet. The setlists and their accompanying visuals tended to introduce new wrinkles each night.

The residency announcement promises he will not neglect that side of the production. "These performances will combine immersive sound, visual spectacle, and sensory feedback to make each show a unique, unforgettable celebration," the statement reads.

The 2027 residency marks Mayer's first Sphere engagement as a headliner in his own right, and the first test of whether his vision for the venue can carry a show built entirely around his own catalog.
