Kennedy Center Honors Relocate to Capital One Arena

The Kennedy Center Honors will be held at Capital One Arena, according to the source material. The shift moves Washington's premier cultural tribute from its longtime home at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to the downtown arena best known for Washington Wizards and Capitals games.

President Trump and the first lady, Melania Trump, attended the Kennedy Center Honors on December 7, 2025. Their presence marked a notable turn for an event the president had skipped during his first term, when honorees and organizers navigated an awkward political climate surrounding the arts.

The reported date and venue change signal a break with the ceremony's traditional setting, where honorees have customarily been celebrated from the Kennedy Center's Opera House stage before an audience of political and cultural luminaries.

What the move means for the ceremony's format, honoree lineup, and broadcast arrangements remains to be seen.
