Paramount Network has ordered 13 original episodes of American Mayhem, the half-hour clip show hosted by Larry the Cable Guy. The series premieres Friday, Nov. 13, at 9 p.m. ET, producer V10 Entertainment confirmed.
The cable order is separate from the show's existing syndicated life. CBS Media Ventures distributes a 52-episode version of the format to stations, cleared in major markets including WLNY New York, KCAL Los Angeles and WCIU Chicago. The 13 Paramount Network episodes will be entirely new to the channel.
What will the show actually look like?
Per the official logline, Larry guides viewers through "a fast-paced collection of funny, unexpected and relatable moments captured across America." The clips cover backyard mishaps, weekend DIY disasters, pets stealing the spotlight and celebrations gone sideways, drawn from small towns, ball fields and family gatherings. Think America's Funniest Home Videos, minus the studio audience and plus a thick Nebraska drawl.
Who said what?
Laurel Weir, head of programming and acquisitions for Paramount Media Networks and chief research and insights officer for TV Media, framed the pickup in a statement. "'American Mayhem' reflects the humor and unpredictability of everyday life in an entertaining way," Weir said. "Larry the Cable Guy is the perfect comedian to bring these moments to life, with his natural ability to connect with audiences. We're excited to partner with V10 Entertainment to bring this new format to Paramount Network with a host whose voice and perspective make it distinctly his own."
V10 Entertainment president Carter Skeath, who also executive produces, made a more pointed case. "Larry doesn't just make people laugh; he understands the people he's making laugh, and that's what makes him so uniquely suited for 'American Mayhem,'" Skeath said. "The show embraces the funny, unpredictable, rough-and-tumble side of Americana that feels right at home on Paramount Network. It's also another opportunity to build on a partnership we genuinely value with an incredible team at Skydance."
The host himself supplied the quote that will likely sell the show. "I watch a ton of the shows on Paramount Network and to see 'Mayhem' premiere on their platform is something I'm really excited about — nothing celebrates this country like watching somebody's uncle fall through a lawn chair," Larry the Cable Guy said.
Who's making it?
The executive producer roster runs six deep: Larry the Cable Guy, Maggie Houlehan, Carter Skeath, Rick De Oliveira, Josh Vodnoy and John Stevens. V10 Entertainment produces; Skydance sits behind it as a valued partner, per Skeath's statement.
Why it matters
The double launch — 52 syndicated episodes plus 13 originals on cable — signals real confidence in a format that broadcasters largely abandoned for reality competitions. Paramount Network is betting that cheap, host-driven clip programming still draws a linear audience on Friday nights, and Larry's uncle-in-a-lawn-chair pitch suggests they know exactly which audience that is.
