Pophouse Entertainment, the Sweden-based music investment firm co-founded by ABBA's Bjorn Ulvaeus, has acquired a 50% stake in Australian singer-songwriter Sia's publishing and master rights in a deal reported at $180 million.
Pophouse announced the partnership but not the figure; TMZ reported the sum and the complications behind it. According to legal documents cited by TMZ, Sia will receive $165 million for songs written before her marriage to Dan Bernad — including the hits "Chandelier," "Titanium" and "Cheap Thrills" — with Bernad waiving any claims to that tranche in exchange for a $1 million payment. The remaining $15 million, covering songs written during the marriage, will sit in escrow until the former couple agrees on terms. Sia filed for divorce in March 2025 after less than three years of marriage.
Per the announcement, Pophouse will support Sia in developing new creative ventures while stewarding her existing catalog.
"I'm really excited to be working with Pophouse," Sia said. "These songs mean so much to me, and I love that they really understand that and want to take care of them. I've been making music for a very long time now, and it feels exciting to think about all the new and different ways these songs might get to live on and find people. I'm really looking forward to seeing what we can dream up together."
Pophouse CEO Jessica Koravos framed the deal as both preservation and expansion. "Sia is an artist whose extraordinary catalogue and unique creative identity offer exceptional opportunities to celebrate and build on her remarkable body of work," Koravos said. "This partnership will further empower Sia with strategic support and creative resources to continue pursuing her artistic ambitions while preserving and expanding her influence."
Shahriar Shokofan, Pophouse Fund Partner, struck a similar note. "Few artists have shaped modern pop as profoundly as Sia, whose songwriting and unmistakable voice have defined some of the most iconic records of the past few decades," Shokofan said. "Sia's ability to balance artistic integrity with mass appeal sets her apart as a truly unstoppable force."
Sia broke through internationally with her 2004 song "Breathe," featured in the final episode of HBO's "Six Feet Under." She has since earned nine Grammy nominations and a string of hits including "Unstoppable," "Elastic Heart" and, with Diplo and Labrinth as the group LSD, the 2018 track "Thunderclouds." Her writing credits extend to Rihanna's "Diamonds" and Beyonce's "Pretty Hurts."
Pophouse made the investment through Pophouse Fund I, its debut fund, which closed in March 2025 at its €1 billion hard cap. The firm secured an additional €200 million through dedicated co-investment vehicles, bringing the total fundraise to more than €1.2 billion.
The Sia catalog joins Pophouse holdings that include Iron Maiden, Tina Turner, Kiss, Cyndi Lauper, Avicii and Swedish House Mafia. The firm also invests heavily in experience-based projects: the Avicii Experience, ABBA the Museum, "Mamma Mia! the Party" and the ABBA "Voyage" virtual concerts.
That portfolio signals where the €180 million may lead. With a billion-euro war chest and a track record of turning legacy catalogs into museums, parties and hologram-era residencies, Pophouse now has the rights and the stated ambition to build similar ventures around one of pop's most streamed songbooks.
