Soprano Alexis Seminario has joined the roster of IMG Artists for general management, the company has announced. Senior Artist Manager Devere Burnett will represent her.

The timing matters. This season, Seminario joins LA Opera's Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program, the company's incubator for emerging opera talent. Signing with a major agency like IMG Artists (one of the leading global artist management firms) at the same moment signals that her career is moving from promising to actively managed.

What does this change for Seminario?

General management means IMG Artists will handle her bookings, negotiations and long-term career strategy. For a singer entering a residency, that infrastructure typically shapes which houses she reaches next — and how fast.

Seminario is building a repertoire that spans Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, Wagner and contemporary opera. That breadth is unusual for an artist at her stage, and it's clearly part of the pitch: she can move between the canon and new work without being typecast.

A track record built on big stages

Her recent credits explain why IMG moved. At the Santa Fe Opera, she performed in the American premiere of Tobias Picker's "Lili Elbe" — a marquee contemporary assignment, since Picker's opera on the historical trans woman has drawn international attention since its European debut.

At The Atlanta Opera, she appeared in Verdi's "La traviata" and in Philip Glass's "La Belle et la Bête," Glass's 1994 hybrid of opera and film. Singing Verdi and Glass in the same house in one stretch is a concrete demonstration of the versatility her new reps will be selling.

The Aspen breakthrough

Seminario has also taken part in the Renée Fleming Artist program at the Aspen Music Festival. There she debuted as Gertrud in "Hänsel und Gretel." She then sang Sieglinde in the festival's closing performance of Act Three of "Die Walküre" — stepping in for Tamara Wilson on short notice.

A last-minute Sieglinde is no small thing. It's a demanding Wagner role, and covering for an established soprano in front of a festival audience is the kind of test that either makes a young career or exposes its limits. Seminario passed it, and the Wagner credit now sits prominently in her profile.

IMG Artists has been building out its vocal roster with similar signings, including recent additions Annabel Kennedy, David Esteban and Emily Rocha. The Seminario signing fits that pattern: the agency is investing early in singers who arrive with major-company credentials already in hand. With the LA Opera residency underway, the next signal to watch is which role and which house follow it.
