Tom Hollander Joins Season 2 of AMC's 'The Audacity' as Tech Billionaire

Tom Hollander has joined the cast of AMC's satirical drama "The Audacity" in a recurring role for Season 2, the network has confirmed.

Production on the eight-episode season is underway in Vancouver, Canada. The series is set to return to AMC and AMC+ in 2027.

Hollander, known for "Dune: Prophecy" and "The Uprising," will play Big Tim, a character described as "a powerful tech billionaire and CEO of Cupertino whose public persona masks his desire for control and revenge." The name of his company places the character squarely in the orbit of the show's satirical targets — the self-styled visionaries of the technology world.

"We are absurdly fortunate to have Tom Hollander joining our already terrific cast," executive producer, writer and showrunner Jonathan Glatzer said in a statement. "He makes everything he's in smarter, funnier and more dangerous, often at the same time. We're enormously thrilled."

The series centers on what its official logline calls "warped dreams, outsized egos and ethical lapses of the self-styled inventors of the future." The premise: "In a world of jaded billionaires, psychiatrist-gurus, bio-hacked tech bros, AI labs and disillusioned teens being optimized in elite private schools, an audacious data-mining CEO (Billy Magnussen) strives to turn insight and influence into profit and power." The logline adds that "the darkly comedic drama confronts reality, privacy and the delusions fueling our ever-changing world."

Hollander enters an ensemble that already includes Magnussen, Sarah Goldberg, Zach Galifianakis, Lucy Punch, Simon Helberg, Meaghan Rath, Paul Adelstein, Everett Blunck, Thailey Roberge and Ava Marie Telek.

Glatzer created the series and serves as executive producer, writer and showrunner. Gina Mingacci, whose credits include "Killing Eve," executive produces alongside him. AMC Studios produces the series, and AMC Global Media holds worldwide rights.

Hollander is represented by Anonymous Content, WME and United Agents.

The casting adds a performer with a proven track record in both prestige drama and sharp comedy to a show that trades on exactly that blend. With Big Tim described as a figure whose charm conceals "control and revenge," the role positions Hollander as a new antagonist in Magnussen's world of data-mining ambition. Viewers will have to wait until 2027 to see how the pairing plays out.
