Yash Raj Films has named its upcoming romantic action-drama "Beparwah," the studio revealed Monday. The film pairs "Saiyaara" breakout Ahaan Panday with Sharvari for the first time. It opens worldwide in theaters on March 26, 2027 — the Good Friday holiday, exactly five months from the title announcement.
Aditya Chopra produces. Ali Abbas Zafar directs from a script he co-wrote with Chopra.
Until Monday, the project had been known only as Zafar's untitled next. Yash Raj Films set the March 2027 release date in July, while the production was shooting in the U.K., where much of the film was made.
What does the title reveal tell us about the creative team?
"Beparwah" marks the fifth collaboration between Zafar and Chopra. Their earlier films span a decade of genres:
- "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan" (2011), romantic comedy
- "Gunday" (2014), crime drama
- "Sultan" (2016), wrestling drama
- "Tiger Zinda Hai" (2017), spy thriller
The last two, both toplined by Salman Khan, were blockbusters for the banner. The pairing has a proven commercial track record — two of four prior films became franchise-launching hits.
Since "Tiger Zinda Hai," Zafar has directed Khan again in "Bharat" (2019), created the Prime Video political series "Tandav" (2021) and helmed "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" (2024), an Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff action vehicle.
Who are the two leads?
Panday made his screen debut in Mohit Suri's "Saiyaara," a YRF musical romance opposite fellow newcomer Aneet Padda. The film became one of the biggest Bollywood hits of 2025. It grossed more than $65 million worldwide and became the highest-grossing Indian love story on record. Panday is the nephew of actor Chunky Panday and a cousin of actor Ananya Panday.
Sharvari launched her career in YRF's "Bunty Aur Babli 2" (2021). She broke through with the 2024 horror-comedy "Munjya," which crossed $14 million at the box office. This July, she starred opposite Alia Bhatt in "Alpha," the first female-led entry in YRF's spy universe franchise.
In plain terms: YRF is pairing its newest male box-office draw with an actress on a three-film rise through the same studio.
Who else joins the cast?
The "Beparwah" cast also includes Bobby Deol, Sharvari's "Alpha" co-star, and Aaishvary Thackeray, grandson of Shiv Sena party founder Bal Thackeray, who plays the antagonist.
Why does this matter for YRF?
Founded in 1970 by the late Yash Chopra and now run by his son Aditya, YRF is one of India's leading studios. Its spy universe, which includes Zafar's "Tiger Zinda Hai," also spans the "War" and "Pathaan" films.
The studio's strategy with "Beparwah" is twofold: it banks a fifth film on the Zafar-Chopra partnership and builds a new star pairing from within its own talent pipeline. With a March 26, 2027 holiday-slot release and a proven blockbuster director attached, the film enters the calendar as one of YRF's most closely watched openers.
