Clap Your Hands Say Yeah announced that it will release Burned on January 29. The band describes the 10-track album as Alec Ounsworth’s first with the group in five years. Nick Krill, a frequent collaborator, produced the record. Ounsworth’s CYHSY label will release it.
The announcement gives no year for the release date or the itinerary. Assigning one would be guesswork.
What shaped Burned?
The band presented “Fever of the Mind” as the first single and made it available to hear. Ounsworth said: “This was the song that sort of themically and sonically guided the rest of the album.”
Ounsworth added: “Maybe the most important thing for me is to establish that first and then shape the other songs around it.”
The single works as the record’s control sample, establishing its themes and sound before the other songs take shape.
Ounsworth dug through a breakup and the recent deaths of people close to him to arrive at Burned. The announcement gives no names and no further detail. That is enough to establish the album’s emotional stakes, if not its full biography.
In 2025, Ounsworth completed an anniversary tour (a retrospective run of concerts) for the band’s acclaimed 2005 self-titled debut (the album named after the group), the announcement said. The run revisited the group’s 2005 catalog. The announcement also directs readers to a Best New Music review of that debut.
Where does the tour go?
The band’s itinerary contains 32 dates across Europe and North America. Eleven fall in February, beginning with Istanbul on 02-06 and ending with London on 02-20. Another 21 run from Washington, DC, on 04-05 through Philadelphia on 05-15. Vancouver and Toronto bring Canada into the route.
The full routing runs from Istanbul and Zurich through Paris and London, then continues across the United States and Canada to Philadelphia.

The routing keeps February in Europe and April and May in North America. Efficient on paper, at least. January 29 will reveal whether Ounsworth’s center-out method yields a coherent album or merely a tidy set of songs.
