Daft Punk will reunite in brick form: Lego has confirmed a set based on the French duo's classic pyramid stage, arriving in 2027.

The duo teased the collaboration on Wednesday during their "Daft Punk – WDPK 83.7" transmission. On Thursday, Daft Punk and Lego confirmed the 2027 release with a video showing the pair in Lego form as a brick-built console assembles around them.

The project's origin traces to 2020, when a father-and-son team from Luxembourg overwhelmingly won Lego's annual Lego Ideas fan contest.

"This all started as a creative escape during lockdown between my son and I because of our shared love of Daft Punk and Lego-building," Patrick Harboun, who created the initial Daft Punk set, said in a statement.

"We never dared imagine it would take off in this way," he added. "Watching our passion project become part of an official collaboration is an incredible experience, and it's a reminder of what makes the Lego Ideas community so special. That a simple idea, shared by fans, really can become something much bigger."

Lego has noted that Harboun's winning submission is not the final model the company ultimately produced.

Which stage does the set recreate?

The set is based on the pyramid stage design Daft Punk performed on during their famed Alive 2007 tour. That structure remains the visual centerpiece of the release.

"The pyramid stage is one of the most recognizable expressions of Daft Punk's visual world, so it feels fitting that this fan-created design will be centre stage of this partnership," Daft Punk's creative director Cédric Hervet said. "Fans have always played an important part in Daft Punk's story, and we are excited to see that creativity reflected through the Lego universe."

What do the companies say?

Julia Goldin, Lego's chief product and marketing officer, framed the partnership as a meeting of two fan-driven brands.

"What makes this partnership so special is the enduring appeal both brands share," Goldin said in a statement. "Like the Lego brand, Daft Punk inspires generations through creativity, innovation and a deep connection with fans. We're excited to build on these foundations to reimagine the Daft Punk legacy in a fresh and unexpected way, creating something unique that resonates with fans across all ages. This is just the beginning of a bigger journey – a creative collab made for fans ready to lose themselves to play."

The announcement carries weight beyond merchandise. A fan-built concept, submitted during the 2020 lockdowns, has become an official product for one of electronic music's most guarded acts — roughly seven years after the idea first won the Lego Ideas contest.

More details about the Daft Punk Lego set, including preorder information and the full version of the pyramid set, will arrive in the coming months.
