Drake Won't Submit Iceman, Habibti or Maid of Honour to Grammys

Drake will skip the 2027 Grammys with Iceman, Habibti and Maid of Honour, Billboard reports — rapping on Iceman: "This album, I'm never submittin' it."

Drake Won't Submit Iceman, Habibti or Maid of Honour to Grammys

Programme

  1. Drake will not submit Iceman, Habibti or Maid of Honour to the 2027 Grammys, per Billboard.
  2. Iceman surpassed Take Care's 12-week record atop Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
  3. "Not Like Us" by Kendrick Lamar won five Grammys in 2025.
  4. Oral arguments in Drake's UMG appeal begin in December.
  5. Drake previously skipped More Life (2018), Certified Lover Boy (2022) and Honestly, Nevermind (2023).

Drake will not submit any of his three 2025 albums — Iceman, Habibti and Maid of Honour — for consideration at the 2027 Grammy Awards, Billboard reports.

The three projects are Drake's first solo releases since his 2024 feud with Kendrick Lamar. All three held steady on the charts through the summer. Iceman broke Drake's own record for the longest run at number one on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, surpassing the 12-week reign of Take Care.

Drake himself signals the decision on record. On "Make Them Know," the closing track of Iceman, he raps: "This album, I'm never submittin' it."

Why does the timing matter?

The refusal comes as Drake returns to public life after the Lamar beef and continues his legal battle with his label, Universal Music Group. Drake's lawsuit alleges UMG promoted the diss track "Not Like Us" despite allegedly defamatory lyrics. A federal judge dismissed the suit last year; Drake's team filed an appeal, and oral arguments are scheduled to begin in December.

"Not Like Us," the Kendrick Lamar track at the center of the dispute, won five Grammys in 2025.

Is this new for Drake?

No. Drake has expressed ambivalence toward the Recording Academy for years, long before the rap feud:

  • He declined to submit More Life in 2018.
  • He withdrew the submission of Certified Lover Boy in 2022.
  • He withdrew Honestly, Nevermind the following year.

His joint album with 21 Savage, Her Loss, did go to the 2024 ceremony, where it lost Best Rap Album to Killer Mike's Michael.

The 2027 snub extends that pattern into the post-feud era. With Iceman posting the strongest chart performance of Drake's catalog and an appeals ruling pending in the UMG case, the rapper's relationship with the industry's biggest institutions remains, by his own account, unresolved.
