Jon Stewart compared Donald Trump to "Yogi Bear floating towards a pie on a windowsill" on Monday night's episode of "The Daily Show," mocking the president's viral comments about Nicki Minaj's "beautiful ass."

Stewart opened the show on the midterm elections and the issues voters are, "for some reason," fixated on: the economy, cost of living and the war in Iran. Then he turned to Trump.

"Donald Trump is actually back out there on the campaign trail to make his closing arguments. I imagine the president will be laser-focused on the issues that matter most," Stewart said, before cutting to a clip of Trump saying: "I looked at his ass, and I've never done that with a man before. A man's ass, his ass, the ass. His ass was like a big piece of muscle."

What did Trump say about Nicki Minaj?

"And by the way, don't feel left out, ladies. Trump's got plenty of ammo left for you," Stewart continued. The next clip came from Trump's Saturday rally in Michigan: "By the way, I looked at one hell of a beautiful ass before — Nicki Minaj. That's hard to miss."

Stewart, bewildered, responded: "How the fuck is this real? 'Stand up, Nikki. Twirl around. Give us a look at that.' Talk about inflation, my God!"

He didn't stop there. "Look at Trump's face when Minaj is talking. Look at what he's doing. He's transfixed. He's staring at her ass. He's like Yogi Bear floating towards a pie on a windowsill." That single simile did more work than a full segment of commentary usually manages.

What about the Ramaswamy ad?

Stewart also took aim at an ad from Ohio Republican governor hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy that features Democratic candidate Amy Acton's estranged mother.

"Well, that could be a compelling ad if it weren't for just a couple of mitigating factors," Stewart said. "For instance, Acton's mother hasn't spoken to her daughter in 50 years, and the reason is, oh, cartoonishly evil word generator, she lost custody of her kids because her husband at the time was indicted for raping her daughter."

Stewart then played a clip of Trump defending the ad and calling the reporter who asked whether "the sexual abuse allegations mean nothing to" him a "horrible little reporter." Stewart's verdict: "When did Donald Trump become Miss Hannigan?" (Miss Hannigan being the neglectful orphanage matron of "Annie," for those spared the musical.)

How long will Stewart host?

Ahead of last week's show, it was announced that Stewart will remain host of "The Daily Show" through 2028. His contract had been set to end at the close of 2026 after a one-year renewal signed in November 2025.

Stewart first hosted the show in 1999, left in 2015 and returned in February 2024. Ratings went up after his return. With three more years guaranteed and a campaign season ahead, the pie metaphors won't be retiring soon.
