Paramount+ has set Jan. 15 as the premiere date for the fifth and final season of “Mayor of Kingstown,” Jeremy Renner’s last run as fixer Mike McLusky. The streamer announced the date alongside 15 first-look photos from the season.

The final episodes pick up “in the wake of Tracy’s murder and the vengeance visited upon Callahan by Mike (Renner) and Kyle McLusky (Taylor Handley),” per the official logline. Then the trouble starts.

Who’s coming to Kingstown?

David Morse joins the fray as FBI agent Russell Hardy, who arrives hunting the “fugitive” Callahan. The logline doesn't sugarcoat his mandate: “A true lawman, Agent Hardy threatens to unearth all of Mike’s sins and secrets, and disrupt Kingstown’s tenuous balance of power.”

Translation: five seasons of carefully managed corruption meet one inconveniently honest cop. Series television rarely resists that math.

Who’s in the cast?

Alongside Renner, Handley and Morse, the season features:

  • Edie Falco as Nina Hobba
  • Laura Benanti as Cindy Stephens
  • Hugh Dillon as Ian Ferguson
  • Tobi Bamtefa as Deverin “Bunny” Washington
  • Derek Webster as Stevie
  • Nichol/ Necar Zadegan as Evelyn
  • Nichole Galicia as Rebecca
  • Lennie James as Frank Moses

That's a bench most network dramas would envy. Falco and James alone could carry a subplot on posture.

Who runs the show?

Taylor Sheridan co-created the series with Hugh Dillon. Both serve as executive producers, alongside Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Dave Erickson, Wendy Riss, Evan Perazzo, Michael Slovis, Regina Corrado and Keith Cox. That's fourteen names on the EP roster — Kingstown-style hierarchy, apparently.

Dave Erickson doubles as showrunner. Sheridan directed the pilot. Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions produce.

The Jan. 15 date gives Renner a closing chapter on a series that survived his 2023 snowplow accident and his own absence from set — and gives Sheridan one more empire-building credit before the final credits roll on Kingstown's tenuous balance.
