Microdrama platform FlareFlow will launch in Thailand on November 2 through AIS Play, the entertainment service of Thai telecom operator Advanced Info Service (AIS), at a subscription price of THB39 ($1.15) per month. Singapore-based distributor Rock Networks brokered the deal.
FlareFlow is the vertical video service owned by COL Group, one of the early movers in microdramas in both China and the U.S. The company claims more than 5,000 series released to date, support for 14 languages and upward of 50 million registered users across more than 200 countries and territories. Those are company figures; no independent verification accompanies the launch announcement.
What will Thai subscribers actually get?
AIS Play users will see a branded FlareFlow section stocked with curated English-, Chinese- and Korean-language series, every one of them carrying Thai subtitles. The genres span romance, drama, fantasy and reality, alongside a selection of LGBTQ+ titles.
Launch titles include:
- "From Janitor to Mrs Billionaire" (English-language)
- "Rise of Aurora's Fallen General" (Chinese-language)
- "My Team Leader Is Working Late Again" (Korean Boys' Love series)
- "SupermodelMe: Make It or Break It," a reality contest franchise shot in vertical format and fronted by Thai TV personality, actor and model Cindy Bishop
"Thailand is one of Southeast Asia's most creative, connected and culturally influential entertainment markets," said Timothy Oh, general manager of COL Group International and chief marketing officer of FlareFlow. "Our launch with AIS Play is about making premium vertical entertainment accessible to more Thai audiences. At THB39 per month, viewers will be able to discover thousands of mobile-first stories backed by the scale, content library and industry experience of COL Group."
Oh added: "It is also an opportunity to introduce Thai audiences to a broader range of stories, genres and creative perspectives from around the world, while building a foundation for future collaboration with Thailand's creators, producers and entertainment industry."
That last clause matters. The announcement promises future collaboration with Thai creators, but no commissioned Thai productions, named local partners or committed budgets appear in the deal as described.
Who negotiated the deal — and what comes next?
Rock Networks, FlareFlow's exclusive partner for telco and OTT integration across Asia, negotiated the commercial terms with AIS. The Singapore-headquartered company will also manage the relationship going forward, handling integration, the launch itself and co-marketing.
"AIS Play is the right home for FlareFlow's launch in Thailand," said Beatrice Lee, CEO of Rock Networks. "Our role is to match world-class content with the region's leading telcos and platforms, and this partnership brings a global microdrama leader to one of Thailand's largest customer bases. Thailand is the first of several markets where we'll be bringing FlareFlow to telco and OTT partners across Asia."
Lee named no further markets and no timeline.
The Thai rollout forms part of what COL Group calls its Vertical 2.0 strategy: pushing the format past standard microdramas with higher production values, a wider spread of genres and new formats such as reality, documentary and drama. The strategy is a stated plan, not a delivered slate.
What does this change for Thailand's streaming market?
Distribution, for now — not production. AIS counted 53.9 million customers across its businesses as of June 2026, including 47.1 million subscribers on its 5G mobile network and 5.3 million on its fixed broadband service, AIS 3BB Fibre3. That reach, at $1.15 a month, puts vertical drama in front of one of the region's largest telco audiences.
FlareFlow is not first through that door. Rival microdrama platform ReelShort entered Southeast Asia through a partnership with AIS in April. Both sides say they will explore Thai content development, work with local creators, localization and new mobile entertainment formats for Thailand and the wider Southeast Asian region — language that stops short of a commitment. Whether Vertical 2.0 produces Thai-made content, or merely more subtitled imports, will define what this launch ultimately changes.
