Programme

  1. Taylor Swift reaches 100 total weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, a record among solo artists.
  2. 'The Life of a Showgirl' earns a 14th week at No. 1 with 93,000 equivalent units for the 'Encore' edition.
  3. The Beatles hold the all-time record with 132 weeks at No. 1; Swift could overtake them within 2-3 albums.
  4. 'Rubber Soul' reenters the top 10 at No. 4 — its first top-10 appearance since April 1966.
  5. Drake's 'Habibti' jumps from No. 116 to No. 2 on a reissue with four new tracks.

Taylor Swift has logged her 100th week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, extending a record among solo artists that no living performer comes close to matching.

She reached the milestone as "The Life of a Showgirl" held at No. 1 for a second straight week, bolstered by the release of an extended edition. The bonus version, titled "The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore," adds four new tracks and counts alongside the original edition for chart purposes. That puts "Showgirl" officially at a 14th week at No. 1.

The "Encore" edition stayed comfortably on top with 93,000 equivalent units, down 46% from the extended version's opening week.

Who is chasing Swift's record?

As Billboard points out, Swift has no real rivals among solo artists. The nearest runner-up is Elvis Presley, whose total stands at 67 weeks — and who, being deceased, cannot add many more. The nearest living challenger is Garth Brooks, with 52 weeks, just over half of Swift's count.

The all-time record across all acts still belongs to the Beatles, with 132 collective weeks at No. 1. Based on her recent chart runs, Swift has the potential to overtake the Beatles with just two to three more original album releases.

The Beatles return to the top 10

The Beatles joined Swift in this week's top 10. "Rubber Soul" reentered the chart at No. 4 thanks to a reissue campaign that includes a boxed set and remastered editions of the original album. It is the first time the 60-year-old album has appeared in the top 10 since April 1966; it last charted on the overall Billboard 200 in January 2016.

The "Rubber Soul" reissue moved 58,000 units.

Four of the top 10 are re-releases

Two more rebounding albums joined Swift and the Beatles in the upper ranks, meaning four of the top 10 are suddenly back because of a re-release or deluxe edition:

  • Drake's "Habibti" jumped from No. 116 to No. 2 on the strength of a reissue with four new tracks (71,000 units).
  • Mac Miller's "The Divine Feminine" leapt from No. 159 to No. 10 on a 10th anniversary edition with three added tracks (33,000 units).
  • Swift's "The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore" sat at No. 1 (93,000 units).
  • The Beatles' "Rubber Soul" reissue landed at No. 4 (58,000 units).

The rest of the top 10

Olivia Rodrigo's "You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love" continued its run at No. 3 with 66,000 units. Morgan Wallen's "I'm the Problem" held at No. 5 (55,000 units), followed by Ella Langley's "Dandelion" at No. 6 (54,000).

Noah Kahan placed twice: "The Great Divide" at No. 7 (46,000 units) and "Stick Season" at No. 9 (33,000). Olivia Dean's "The Art of Loving" took No. 8 with 35,000 units.

Swift, who is famously fond of the number 13, may now count 100 among her lucky numerals. With the Beatles' 132-week record fewer than three albums away, the question hanging over the chart is not whether she can reach it, but when.
