Dexter in the Newsagent has released "Fantasy," her first song of 2026. The track arrives nearly a year after the south London singer-songwriter and producer's debut mixtape, Time Flies.

The new release follows a run of promotion behind that mixtape, including European festival dates and a video for the song "Stranger to Love." The video for "Fantasy," directed by Iris Luz, places Dexter in a neon-lit phone box.

Dexter described the song's origins in a press release. "I wrote this song earlier this year when I lost a bunch of money and was feeling quite lost," she said. "I was watching random car drive-through videos of rich areas on youtube and I wanted to write a song about money from the perspective we all have when you're a kid and you just wonder what it's like to have a big fancy car, walk in wardrobe or a chef."

She continued: "That's where the song came from and I love everything about how fancy and dreamy it feels, it's like my own fantasy world where I am a millionaire."

"Fantasy" marks the artist's first new material since Time Flies, released last year. The mixtape's campaign carried her through European festival stages, establishing her presence beyond the UK.

With "Fantasy," Dexter turns a moment of personal financial loss into a song about childhood fascination with wealth — and builds, in her words, her own "fantasy world" from it.
