Sir Ian McKellen narrates Troye Sivan's new music video for “Party.” The actor, whom a 14-year-old Sivan joined on stage in a 2010 production of Waiting for Godot, supplies the voiceover for the clip — meaning Gandalf himself narrates the new Troye Sivan video.
Sivan released “Party,” the latest single from his forthcoming album She's the Best, alongside the video. The track is built around a prominent sample of Madonna's Y2K hit “Music.” Gordon von Steiner directed the risqué, baroque visuals, in which Sivan appears as a medieval knight.
Sivan addressed the song's construction in press materials announcing the release. “Dance music sounds very different on a dance floor than it does coming out of your laptop speaker,” he said. “The repetition becomes almost hypnotic, and I wanted to play with structure in that way.”
She's the Best, the follow-up to Sivan's 2023 album Something to Give Each Other, lands October 9. Sivan announced the record last month together with its title track. That earlier song also came with a marquee name in its video: fellow Australian and Boy Erased co-star Nicole Kidman.
With McKellen and Kidman enlisted across consecutive singles, Sivan is pairing his new album's rollout with Hollywood firepower — and a direct link back to the stage career that started it all.
