Taylor Swift released four new songs at midnight on Wednesday, led by the single "Patient Zero" and accompanied by three surprise additions: "Cleveland!," "Pink Clouding," and "Babylon."

All four tracks appear on The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, the latest expansion of an album Swift originally sent to No. 1 last October. Swift had announced on Wednesday that "Patient Zero" would arrive on schedule at midnight — but the three extra songs came without warning.

The following day, Swift shared a video teaser for "Patient Zero." The full video, which features Swift alongside Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson, will premiere Sunday night at the MTV VMAs.

The Encore is the newest redux of a 2025 album that has already undergone expansions with titles like So Glamorous Cabaret Version and So Punk on the Internet Version. Swift wrote the additional tracks with her longtime collaborators Max Martin and Shellback after visiting them in Sweden to celebrate the original LP's success.

The past year has kept Swift in the headlines beyond the album cycle. Since The Life of a Showgirl topped the charts last October, she has been inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the National Recording Registry. She also released the song "I Knew It, I Knew You" for Toy Story 5.

Sunday's VMAs will add another line to her résumé. Swift will receive the inaugural "Artist Director Honors" at the ceremony — an award, as one observer noted, seemingly invented to justify her attendance.

With four new songs now streaming and a star-studded video pending, Swift has given fans plenty to parse before the VMAs — and signaled that The Life of a Showgirl may not be finished expanding yet.
