Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture has unveiled Lilli, a 636-foot (193-metre) residential skyscraper planned for a narrow waterfront site in Miami's Edgewater neighbourhood.

The Chicago-based studio, known for designing some of the world's tallest buildings, calls the project its latest Miami tower. Its portfolio includes Jeddah Tower, the upcoming tallest skyscraper in the world.

Lilli will rise 53 storeys and hold 117 residences of varying sizes. The developer has not yet announced a construction date.

What will the tower look like?

The design pairs rounded edges with large spans of glass. Metallic floor plates interrupt the glazing at regular intervals. Terraces line the water-facing side of the building, with larger patios running up the opposite face.

AS+GG design partner Juan Betancur described the guiding concept for the interiors.

"Our vision is for Lilli's interior design to feel inseparable from its architecture," Betancur said.

"The fluidity of the building carries through the interior spaces, while a restrained palette of natural materials allows light, landscape, and views of Biscayne Bay to become part of the experience."

He added: "The result is a sense of quiet refinement that feels distinctly connected to its waterfront setting."

What amenities are planned?

Residents will have access to lounges, pools and spas distributed through the building. Amenities include:

  • Resident lounges
  • Swimming pools
  • Spa facilities

The ground floor will hold a residents' lobby with large metallic columns and minimalist detailing. At the top of the tower, a pool will sit on the edge of a terrace beneath a bulkhead finished in the same reflective metal treatment used across the exterior.

In plain terms: one pool at the base of a metallic bulkhead crowns 53 storeys of glass-fronted homes.

Where does Lilli fit in Miami's skyline?

Lilli joins a series of residential skyscrapers the studio is designing for the city. AS+GG recently completed a "yacht-inspired" residential building in Miami.

Residential high-rise development in Miami has continued at a steady pace. Bugatti recently unveiled its first branded skyscraper in the city.

At 636 feet, Lilli would sit among Miami's taller residential towers, though it remains far below the supertall scale of AS+GG's Jeddah Tower project. Renderings for Lilli are by Darcstudio.

The unveiling signals that Miami's luxury residential pipeline shows no sign of slowing, with another global supertall specialist now adding to the city's waterfront density.
