Programme

  1. Chicken Shop Date ends after 12 years with a one-night cinema event on Nov. 24.
  2. All six final-series episodes screen at nine venues in the UK, Ireland and Paris.
  3. The unreleased finale hits theaters three days before its Nov. 27 YouTube release.
  4. Invite-only premieres take place in London on Nov. 16 and New York on Nov. 17.
  5. Final-season guests include Noel Gallagher, Role Model and Jorja Smith.

Amelia Dimoldberg's "Chicken Shop Date" will screen in cinemas on November 24, marking the end of the series after 12 years. The one-night-only event runs at theaters across the U.K., Ireland and Paris in collaboration with YouTube's Cine Club.

All six episodes of the final series will screen together in what a press release calls one "cinematic experience," featuring exclusive new material. The season's guests so far include Oasis' Noel Gallagher, Role Model and Jorja Smith. The evening culminates with the final, still-unreleased episode — giving ticket holders a first look three days before it drops on YouTube on November 27.

The takeaway: fans can see the finale on a big screen before anyone online.

What will the film include?

Beyond the episodes themselves, the "Chicken Shop Date" film will "offer a personal look behind the series, exploring Amelia's relationship with the show and her decision to bring it to an end," the release states. It frames the project in two registers: "Moving between comedy, nostalgia and candid reflection, the film is both a celebration of everything 'Chicken Shop Date' has become and a fitting farewell to one of the internet's most recognizable formats."

Which cinemas are showing it?

Nine venues will screen the final series on November 24:

  • Duke of York's Picturehouse, Brighton
  • Picturehouse Central, London
  • Curzon Soho, London
  • mk2 Bibliothèque, Paris
  • Vue Manchester Printworks
  • Vue Edinburgh Omni Centre
  • Vue Bristol Cribbs Causeway
  • Vue Birmingham Star City
  • Vue Dublin Liffey Valley
  • Vue London Westfield

That is five U.K. cities plus Dublin and Paris — a footprint spanning three countries for a single evening.

The public screenings follow invite-only premieres in London on November 16 and New York City on November 17, where Dimoldberg will take part in Q&As with audiences.

Why is the show ending?

Dimoldberg announced the ending last month in a social media post. "I never thought I'd stop 'Chicken Shop Date,' I thought maybe it would be a part of me forever, and in some way it always will, but I feel like it's now time to move on from this adventure and onto a new one," she wrote.

The comment section's tone, in plain words: a creator closing a 12-year chapter on her own terms. The cinema rollout signals how YouTube-native formats now command theatrical premieres, red carpets and Q&As once reserved for film and television releases.
