Chris Pratt will play James Reece again in 'Savage Son,' Amazon's adaptation of Jack Carr's third Terminal List novel, likely as a standalone series.

Programme
- Chris Pratt will reprise James Reece in 'Savage Son,' based on Jack Carr's third Terminal List novel.

- Season 2 of 'The Terminal List' debuts Oct. 21, 2026; the prequel 'Dark Wolf' aired in 2025.

Chris Pratt will reprise the role of former Navy SEAL James Reece in "Savage Son," a new Amazon series based on Jack Carr's third novel in "The Terminal List" book franchise, Variety has learned.
The project marks the third screen extension of a franchise that began with "The Terminal List" in 2022. Sources tell Variety that "Savage Son" is more likely to serve as a standalone project than a third season of the flagship series, though Amazon has not settled the question definitively.
Amazon describes the show as "a fast-paced military thriller following former Navy SEAL sniper James Reece (Pratt), as he faces his most personal and dangerous mission yet." The official logline continues: "'Savage Son' is a gripping blend of military action, espionage, and wilderness survival, exploring the thin line between civilization and the savage instincts that emerge when survival becomes personal."
What does this change for the franchise?
The move signals Amazon's intent to keep building the Reece universe across multiple formats rather than confining it to a single serialized run. The franchise already spans two shows. The original "The Terminal List" debuted in 2022, and its second season arrives on Oct. 21, 2026. In 2025, Amazon aired the prequel "The Terminal List: Dark Wolf," with Taylor Kitsch reprising the role of CIA operative and former SEAL Ben Edwards.
Peter Friedlander, head of global television for Amazon MGM Studios, framed the new series as the franchise's most demanding chapter to date. "Jack Carr's work has connected with audiences in a way that speaks to the power of his storytelling and the incredible dedication Chris Pratt and the entire team bring to every episode," Friedlander said in a statement. "'The Terminal List' franchise continues to resonate and Savage Son takes the story into its most intense chapter yet."
Who is making it?
"Savage Son" is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, MRC, and Civic Center Media. No release date, additional cast, or showrunner has been announced.
For Pratt, the role extends a partnership with Carr's material that now covers the flagship series, the announced 2026 second season, and this new adaptation. For viewers, the practical question is simple: whether "Savage Son" continues the serialized plot of the first two seasons or restarts from Carr's third novel as its own entry point. The standalone lean suggested by sources points to the latter.
With Season 2 of "The Terminal List" landing on Oct. 21, 2026, and a third Reece project now in development, Amazon has effectively committed to Carr's novel sequence as a long-running screen property.
