Amazon's series adaptation of "Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone" has added eight new series regulars, Variety has learned. Sean Astin and Patricia Clarkson headline the cast expansion around previously announced lead Penn Badgley.

Who has joined the cast?

The eight new regulars, each named by Variety, are:

  • Patricia Clarkson ("Sharp Objects," "Pieces of April")
  • Elizabeth Marvel ("Disclosure Day," "Presumed Innocent")
  • Daniella Garcia ("Diamond," "Grey's Anatomy")
  • Felix Solis ("Ozark," "Sirens")
  • Sean Astin ("Stranger Things," "The Lord of the Rings")
  • Annaleigh Ashford ("Happy Face," "Welcome to Chippendales")
  • Chris Walley ("The Young Offenders," "1917")
  • Eliza Bennett ("Sweet/Vicious," "Dynasty")

In a separate announcement, Alexandra Broksky has boarded the series as executive producer and will direct half the episodes, including both the premiere and the season finale. Eight actors, one lead, and a director splitting the season evenly: Amazon MGM is assembling this mystery with a full ensemble from the start.

What is the series about?

The show adapts Benjamin Stevenson's novel of the same name. Amazon describes it as darkly comedic. The logline reads: "Set deep in the dense mountains of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, the series follows Ern Cunningham (Badgley), a mystery-writing expert who reluctantly attends a family reunion to welcome his brother Michael home from prison — the same brother Ern helped convict. When a frozen body appears and a snowstorm traps everyone inside, the deaths begin to mount. Everyone in his family has already killed someone – either by accident or otherwise."

Badgley plays Ern Cunningham, the mystery-writing expert at the center of the snowbound murder plot. The premise turns on a family in which every member has already killed someone, by accident or otherwise.

Who is making it?

David Hemingson will adapt the novel, and will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky and Jeanne Snow of Made Up Stories will also executive produce, alongside Molly Allen and Brodsky. Badgley will executive produce in addition to starring. Stevenson, the novel's author, joins them as an executive producer.

Three companies share production duties: Amazon MGM Studios, Fifth Season and Made Up Stories. No premiere date has been announced. With Hemingson writing, Broksky directing the bookend episodes, and a cast led by Badgley, Clarkson and Astin, the adaptation now has its full creative core in place as it moves toward production.
