Doechii returns with “Bombs,” reviving the “Swamp Sessions” series that fueled her Grammy-winning 2024 mixtape, and posts a handwritten mission statement to fans.

Programme
- Doechii released “Bombs,” reviving the “Swamp Sessions” series, with a self-directed video.
- The Swamp Sessions previously fed her 2024 Grammy-winning mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal.
- She posted a handwritten letter to fans, titled “A Cup of Butterscotch Tea,” dated October.
- Doechii, 28, has released music since 2019 but no official debut album.
- In 2026 she collaborated with Lady Gaga on “Runway” from The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Doechii has released “Bombs,” a short loosie that revives her “Swamp Sessions” series. The track arrives with a video directed by Doechii herself.
The “Swamp Sessions” format has a proven track record. In the lead-up to 2024’s Alligator Bites Never Heal, Doechii posted weekly song snippets and freestyles to YouTube. Several of them, including “Nissan Altima” and “Catfish,” landed on the mixtape proper. That release went on to win a Grammy.
What did Doechii tell her fans?
After a quiet 2026, the rapper also published a handwritten letter to fans on her Instagram story, viewed by Pitchfork. The note, titled “A Cup of Butterscotch Tea,” is dated October and runs through her state of mind at 28.
“I spent the past few years relearning Hip-Hop as a student. Studying its language, its history, its roots,” Doechii writes. “Now, I feel inspired to contribute to evolve it. To stretch it through different genres, different sounds and different parts of myself.”
She frames her next chapter as a matter of representation and ambition.
- “A mission is brewing inside of me (a responsibility really) to see Black Womanhood exist at the center of Hip-Hop AND Pop.”
- “I fear my devotion now is to becoming the artist I wish existed when I was growing up.”
- “Finally become the dark skin ICON my little girl eyes wanted to see.”
- “I want art in every fucking thing.”
The letter closes with a resolute sign-off: “I don’t have shit else to say hoe.”
Where does her career stand?
Doechii has been releasing music since 2019, spanning several EPs and the Grammy-winning Alligator Bites Never Heal. She has yet to release an official debut album.
Her 2026 activity has been selective rather than silent. Earlier this year she teamed up with Lady Gaga for “Runway,” an original song from The Devil Wears Prada 2. In August, she performed — in head-to-toe pink body paint — at the inaugural edition of Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival.
Takeaway: “Bombs” signals the return of the platform that built her breakthrough, and the letter sets representation at the center of whatever comes next — a debut album remains the obvious unfinished business.
