Harry Styles closed a record-setting 30-night residency at New York's Madison Square Garden over the weekend, ending it with two "Harryween" costume shows — one as 1970s-era Elvis Presley, the other as "Pizza Rat."
The themed costumes ran well beyond the singer himself. On Friday, his band dressed in recreations of Styles' own signature looks: his Coachella, Met Gala and Grammy outfits. "The theme on stage tonight was favorite sequined king," Styles joked, before thanking the audience for counting him in that group.
For Friday's encore, Styles reached back to his origins. He stepped out in his 2010 "X-Factor" audition outfit and sang Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely" — the same song that, more than 15 years ago, earned the then-bakery-worker his place in One Direction.
What happened on the final night?
Saturday's closing show doubled as a full tribute to New York City. The band opened dressed as local icons, among them the Statue of Liberty, Andy Warhol and Anna Wintour. Styles then appeared as "Pizza Rat," built on the notorious 2015 meme of a rat dragging a pizza slice down a subway-station staircase.
He also honored the city's music history, delivering a cover of Talking Heads' "Psycho Killer" before returning to the standard setlist.
The capstone came when New York Knicks captain Jalen Brunson took the stage to present Styles with a banner marking the record-breaking run. "I just wanted to appear and congratulate you on your 30th night," Brunson said. "A couple weeks ago, Harry was so kind to join me and my team on our banner night, and I thought I, on behalf of MSG and the Knicks, would do the same."
How did the residency spill into the city?
Across the nine-week run, Styles' presence reached well past the arena. Fans spotted him occasionally on the Williamsburg Bridge, and they organized their own events — One Direction karaoke nights and a post-Harryween bar crawl among them.
Tour sponsor AmEx amplified the footprint, running pop-up shops across lower Manhattan for the full nine-week block. Midway through the residency, it also invited ten randomly selected fans to hear "Together, Together" performed live for the first time.
What does the run change for Styles? It sets the benchmark his own tour now has to chase. As the final show wound down, he told the audience: "You've changed my life over and over again, and I get to remember every moment in here. I have loved it so much… Thank you for dancing with me. When I wrote this album, I wanted it to feel exactly like this."
The "Together, Together" tour moves to Australia later this month for Styles' final shows of the year. It resumes in the U.S. in April 2027 and is slated to end that August with three consecutive nights at Wembley Stadium.
