Soprano Kristine Opolais will make her Mexican debut at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City on Nov. 7, 2026.
The Latvian soprano announced the date in a statement. She will sing a program that includes music by Giuseppe Verdi, Alfredo Catalani, Amilcare Ponchielli, Jules Massenet, Erich Korngold, Giacomo Puccini, Franz Lehár, and Antonín Dvořák. Pianist and conductor Abdiel Vázquez will accompany her.
"My debut in Mexico City—and especially my debut at the magnificent Palacio de Bellas Artes, one of the world's most beautiful and iconic venues—marks a truly significant moment in my artistic journey," Opolais said in the statement. "For years, I have dreamed of singing in this extraordinary hall and becoming part of its remarkable history, alongside the legendary artists and singers who have performed here and continue to grace its stage today."
She added: "I eagerly look forward to my concert on November 7th at the Palacio de Bellas Artes; I cannot wait to connect with an audience that I am certain will be truly special. The evening will be all the more special because I will have the pleasure of sharing the stage with the wonderful conductor and pianist Abdiel Vázquez. We have already had the joy of working together in the past, and I am thrilled about this upcoming musical reunion."
The soprano also hinted at what Mexico City audiences can expect. "The program will be filled with music I deeply love, including some of my signature arias as well as new additions to my repertoire—and, of course, there will be a few surprises," she said. "I cordially invite you to join us for this very special recital, and I sincerely hope that our evening together becomes a beautiful memory that stays with us all for years to come."
Opolais is an internationally recognized soprano who has performed at the world's great stages. This season, her engagements include a performance at the Teatro Wielki in Łódź, Poland, and an appearance with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
The Nov. 7 recital at the Palacio de Bellas Artes marks the first time Mexican audiences will hear the soprano live, paired with one of the country's prominent pianist-conductors in a program spanning Italian, French, Austrian, Czech and German repertoire.
