Mezzo-soprano Kathryn Leemhuis will headline a concert by the Temple University Studio, Symphony and Jazz Orchestras at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center on Oct. 11, 2026. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. local time.
José Luis Domínguez and Terell Stafford direct the program. Leemhuis takes on three American works: Copland's "Long Time Ago" from "Old American Songs," Bernstein's "Take Care of This House" from "1600 Pennsylvania Avenue," and Gershwin's "O Land of Mine, America."
The first half belongs to the Temple University Symphony Orchestra under Domínguez. The ensemble performs works by Bernstein, Chris Brubeck and Dave Brubeck.
The second half shifts to jazz. The Temple University Jazz Orchestra performs under Stafford, and the Temple University Studio Orchestra under Domínguez.
The concert marks a return engagement for the Temple orchestras at Alice Tully Hall, one of Lincoln Center's principal venues. The all-American program traces a line from Copland and Gershwin to Bernstein and the Brubecks, giving the student ensembles a showcase built around some of the country's most performed composers.
For Leemhuis, the Lincoln Center date adds a prominent New York platform to a repertoire centered on American song. For the Temple orchestras, it offers a chance to perform three distinct ensembles — symphonic, jazz and studio — on a single night before a major audience.
