Milo Rau's four-hour documentary play about the Gisèle Pelicot trial will be staged by the Young Vic at London's County Hall on 30 November — and every performance has already sold out. The Swiss director, known for ripped-from-the-headlines works on the wars in Iraq and Congo and the exploitation of migrant workers, created the piece with Servane Dècle. The full production will be livestreamed, with a cast led by Adjoa Andoh, Rosie Jones and Olivia Williams.

"It was the act of witnessing that really got me," said Young Vic artistic director Nadia Fall. "It isn't scenes and costumes in a set like a traditional piece of theatre. It is the facts. It just floors you." The play has already been performed around the world. The takeaway: a courtroom transcript, delivered as testimony rather than drama, has become one of the season's hottest tickets.

What else can you stream this month?

The Pelicot Trial (Young Vic livestream, 30 November) — Rau and Dècle's documentary staging of the trial of the men who drugged and raped Gisèle Pelcot, running four hours and carrying no conventional set or costume design, per Fall's description.

ITA Music Vol 1: New Originals (Spotify) — Internationaal Theater Amsterdam, the company that stormed the West End with The Years and Oedipus, has launched its own record label. The first compilation gathers the "most requested" music from its recent productions, including tracks by Thijs van Vuure from an adaptation of James Baldwin's novel Giovanni's Room.

DuEls (Sadler's Wells Digital Stage) — Choreographer Damien Jalet, whose mosaic of schoolboys in the viral Storm video reached a vast new audience on smartphones, made the hour-long film with Erna Ómarsdóttir. Performers twist through scenes of ecstasy and agony among the statues of Oslo's Vigeland Museum. Highlights include a tangled trio familiar from the horror hit Suspiria. The film shows how movement changes your appreciation of figures frozen in time: a choreographer illuminating sculptors.

Arcadia (NT at Home, from 26 November) — Director Carrie Cracknell once considered herself "no match for his dazzling dialogue, speed of thought or emotional depths" after being cast in a student production of Tom Stoppard's The Real Thing. Her Old Vic revival of Stoppard's Arcadia traverses two centuries to explore matters of the universe and the heart. The first-rate cast includes the luminous, Olivier-nominated Isis Hainsworth. Few plays leave you with so much to think about.

Salt. (BBC iPlayer) — In 2017, performance artist Selina Thompson arrived at the Edinburgh fringe with a mallet, protective goggles and blocks of salt rock, which she hammered in a one-woman show whose audience members each took home a piece. She left with several awards for her account of the transatlantic slave triangle, whose route she retraced from the UK to Ghana to Jamaica. The iPlayer film preserves the performance's sense of ritual, commemoration and intimacy — and adds Thompson's own reflections on its creation.

The pattern across the month is clear: the strongest streams are documentary in spirit, whether courtroom facts, reissued production music or a sculptor's garden repurposed as a stage. County Hall on 30 November is the date to diarise.
