Muna's tour bus caught fire in Burbank, California, and the band confirmed on Instagram that no one was injured. The trio appeared on Los Angeles' KTLA 5 local news today to talk about the incident, which happened while they were out on their Gets So Hot Tour.
The band addressed the loss directly. "Many personal items were lost but we're all safe, thank goodness," they wrote in the post, heart and bandage emoji included. It's a blunt accounting: gear and personal belongings gone, people intact.
What does this change for the tour?
Nothing, as of now. Muna's Gets So Hot Tour will proceed as planned. Their next performance is set for Wednesday, October 21 at Red Rocks, the amphitheatre outside Denver.
That's the practical answer for ticket holders: dates stand, the show goes on. The band hasn't announced any changes to the schedule since the fire.
Naomi McPherson's comment
Guitarist and producer Naomi McPherson added a comment under the band's post that turned the misfortune into dark comedy. "if anyone could help me find the grandchild of the warlock whose curse is wreaking havoc on my life so that i can carry em up the mountain & fulfill the prophecy / undo the curse that has befallen me that would be much appreciated," McPherson wrote.
The joke lands with context. McPherson missed several of Muna's shows last month while caring for their mother, who was suffering from terminal cancer. A bus fire on top of that stretch reads less like absurdist bit, more like gallows humor from someone having a rough season.
The band hasn't said what caused the fire, or how much equipment was lost — only that personal items went with it.
The tour goes on
The Gets So Hot Tour, named after the band's current run, has been rolling through the fall. Muna released their new album Dancing on the Wall earlier this year; the bus fire interrupts the logistics, not the itinerary.
For now, the next marker on the calendar is Red Rocks on October 21 — a venue that has hosted bigger setbacks than a burned bus, and a date the band evidently intends to keep.
