Season 7 of Taylor Sheridan's sports documentary series "The Last Cowboy" premieres on CMT on Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. The season runs six episodes. Episodes will be available the next day on CMT VOD. The first six seasons stream on Paramount+.
The series covers the elite Western equine sports of reining, cutting and cow horse. It follows top riders preparing for Sheridan's "Run for a Million" competition, which CMT describes as the biggest and most prestigious event in Western equine sports.
This season the competition runs through Sheridan's own Bosque Ranch. The champion takes $1 million — the richest prize in the sport.
Who is riding in Season 7?
CMT's rider descriptions list six named competitors and their stakes:
- Andrea Fappani: the first reiner to pass $10 million in lifetime earnings, still chasing the one title he has never won.
- Kole Price: fought his way back to the Run for a Million last year after years of falling short, and aims to reclaim the championship he took in 2021.
- Gabriel Borges: has unfinished business after tying for fourth in his last appearance.
- Gina Schumacher: came within one stop of winning two years ago; she returns for a third try as a new mom.
- Jordan Williams: a cow horse rider who just won World's Greatest Horseman and is ready for the sport's biggest stage.
- Erin Taormino: one of the most consistent cow horse riders, back for her fifth Run for a Million, still seeking the win that got away after finishing reserve champion in 2024.
CMT's descriptions promise additional riders beyond these six.
Who produces the series?
Truly Original, a Banijay America company, produces "The Last Cowboy" for CMT. Glenda Hersh, Steven Weinstock, Julie "Bob" Lombardi and Apryl Richards serve as executive producers. Sheridan executive produces alongside David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari and David Hutkin. Todd Baynes oversees the production for CMT.
Fappani's $10 million career milestone frames the stakes: a rider who has already earned more than any reiner in history still lacks the sport's richest title. With the $1 million purse again on the line at Bosque Ranch, Season 7 tests whether established champions or returning challengers take the sport's top prize on Nov. 6.
