Philadelphia shoegaze band They Are Gutting a Body of Water have announced a 29-song mixtape, Kool Faith / Loosies II, with guest features spanning the band's DIY orbit. The release arrives digitally on October 16 and physically on November 20 via ATO/Julia's War.

The band shared three new songs alongside the announcement: "Kool Marder" featuring Cashier, "The Rook," and "Free Willy." The full tracklist includes collaborations with Spirit of the Beehive, Hotline TNT, RXK Nephew, and dozens more.

The guest list gathers fellow DIY shoegaze acts, several Julia's War labelmates, and other artists in the group's circle: Greg Mendez, Horse Jumper of Love, FearDorian, Full Body 2, LUCY (Cooper B. Handy), Options, Dead Sullivan, Cooking, Hooky, A Country Western, Total Wife, Fib, Scarlet Rae, Toner, Haloplus+, and Morgan Garrett, among others.

Bandleader Doug Dulgarian framed the project as a return to the mixtape's original spirit. "The word mixtape initially meant a homespun tape that you typically listened to yourself or gave to somebody else," he said. "For me who was born later, it meant mashups of all my favorite artists by local DJs. And so that's what I did with this one, mashups of all my favorite artists. Shoutout DJ WHITEOWL, RIP."

The announcement follows the band's most recent album, Lotto, released last October. That record appeared in The 30 Best Rock Albums of 2025.

Next month, They Are Gutting a Body of Water begin a headlining tour of the United States that runs through December.
