Bill Nighy, Hayley Atwell and Maisie Williams will lead the English-language voice cast of "The Last Dino," the CG-animated family feature directed by Federico Milella. The film makes its market premiere at the American Film Market next week, ahead of planned international theatrical releases in 2027.

Nighy is known for "Living" and "Love Actually." Atwell's credits include "Mission: Impossible" and "Captain America," and Williams starred in "Game of Thrones." Sales company Global Constellation, a Vuelta company, has already closed distribution deals across multiple territories before the market screening.

What is the story?

The film follows Rex, son of the King of Dinosaurs. He's unexpectedly catapulted 65 million years into the future and lands in a world where dinosaurs are extinct, being smart matters more than being strong, and being king of the jungle means absolutely nothing.

Determined to find his way home, Rex teams up with an unlikely crew of friends for an adventure that challenges everything he thought he knew about strength, friendship and family. Along the way, he discovers that family isn't necessarily about where you come from, but about who stands by your side — and that sometimes the greatest adventure isn't finding your way home, but finding where you truly belong.

Where will it be released?

The distribution map already covers most of the world:

  • France — KMBO
  • U.K. and Ireland — Sky Original
  • Australia and New Zealand — Umbrella
  • Benelux — WWE
  • Portugal — Nos Audiovisuais
  • Poland — Forum Film
  • Hungary — Vertigo
  • Czech and Slovak Republics — FoxxMedia
  • Bulgaria — ProFilm
  • Former Yugoslavia — MCF Megacom
  • Baltics and Ukraine — Ad Astra
  • Greece and Cyprus — Filmtrade
  • Israel — Red Cape
  • Turkey, Middle East and North Africa — Italia Film
  • Vietnam — Mockingbird
  • Latin America — BF Distribution

Who is making it?

Ben Smith ("StarDog and TurboCat") wrote the screenplay. Luxembourg-based animation studio Fabrique d'Images produces, in co-production with Belgium's Freaks Factory ("Spiked"), the U.K.'s Terrible Lizard Productions and Broadvision Perspectives India. Film Fund Luxembourg and Wallimage (Wallonia) support the production.

What does this change for buyers?

Global Constellation's Fabien Westerhoff frames the pitch plainly. "'The Last Dino' combines irresistible slapstick comedy with heartfelt storytelling in a hugely entertaining time-travelling adventure for the family," he said. "At its core is a universal message about embracing our differences, finding our tribe and discovering where we truly belong. We're delighted to present the film to buyers at AFM ahead of its international theatrical rollout in 2027."

So what does this change for the market? A finished voice cast and pre-sold territories across Europe, Latin America, Asia and MENA mean AFM buyers arrive at a project already largely financed and distributed — the remaining question is which territories are still open, and whether the 2027 rollout holds.
