Slayyyter has cancelled 11 remaining U.K. and European dates on her Wor$t Girl in the World Tour after doctors diagnosed her with laryngitis and vocal cord tears.
The Missouri-born pop musician announced the cancellations in an Instagram Story on the eve of her next scheduled performance, set for Warsaw, Poland on Oct. 24. Her medical team ordered medication and complete vocal rest for at least two weeks, she said.
"I am heartbroken to share after multiple doctor visits I have laryngitis and vocal cord tears and have been ordered to go on medication and full vocal rest for at least two weeks," Slayyyter wrote. "Because of this, I am forced to cancel the remaining U.K./EU dates to avoid permanent damage to my voice."
Why did the tour collapse mid-run?
The Warsaw show was to be the next stop on the tour's European leg. In total, 11 dates have been scrapped, spanning the U.K. and the continent. Slayyyter's team is working to rebook the concerts for next year, the musician said in her statement.
The cancellations follow earlier warnings. Slayyyter had already pulled out of shows in Hamburg, Germany and Copenhagen, Denmark earlier in the week after losing her voice, in order to "protect further damage" to her instrument. The new diagnosis confirmed the problem was more serious than strain.
In her statement, the singer addressed fans directly and acknowledged the cost of the cancellations to those who had already committed to attending.
"I know how much time and effort is spent to come out to a show," she wrote. "Some of you have traveled, some of you have made costumes, and I am completely devastated to not be able to give you the shows you were planning for. We are working hard to figure out a time to return so I can deliver an even bigger and better show for you all. I hope you know I will make this up to you."
What does this change for her album rollout?
The tour stoppage comes weeks before a major release. Slayyyter recently announced Wor$t Man in America, the counterpart to her album Wor$t Girl in America, arriving Dec. 4 via Columbia.
The nine-track record includes the singles "I Think He's Got a Girl," "Crank 2" and "Beat Up Chanel$." The latter two rework tracks from Wor$t Girl in America: "Crank 2" builds on "Crank," while "Beat Up Chanel$" offers a fresh take on "Brand New Chanel$."
The album release date stands. Whether Slayyyter can resume live performance — and whether the rebooked U.K. and European dates land next year as her team intends — will depend on how her voice responds to the prescribed rest.
