Blue Bendy will release their second album, One Day This Will All Be Lore, on January 29, 2027. The London band announced the record alongside a video for its opening track, "Dragonslayer," directed by the group's own synthesist, Olivia Morgan. It is her first attempt at filmmaking.

The album follows the band's 2024 debut, So Medieval, a collection of absurdist indie-pop confessionals. The new record was completed after a brief hiatus and the exit of two founding members, guitarist Harrison Charles and drummer Oscar Tebbutt. According to a press release, the departures stem from struggles with alcoholism faced by frontperson Arthur Nolan.

The reshaped lineup brings in bassist Dina Willcock and drummer Tristan Petsola. They join original guitarists Joe Nash and Oliver Chester-Nolan, with Morgan and Nolan completing the six-piece.

One track on the album documents a specific 2025 episode: a recovering Nolan fell off the wagon, was marooned in Germany, and came around in a sanatorium in Cologne. The song is titled "The Tiger Who Came to Tea."

Nolan described the intentions behind "Dragonslayer" in a statement. "I was trying to subvert some Arthurian chivalry in a modern context," he said. "Especially as that medieval period is such a traditionally idolised time. Trying to look at Nationalistic mythology wrapped in a tragicomic romantic pop song, and the fantasies that any musician tells themself about fame, living in your own head."

Morgan, who bought a camera earlier this year, framed the video as a first experiment. "I decided to try and answer every question i've ever had and analyse why everyone does any of the things they do in a 4 and a half minute sequence of videos," she said. "I've not made a music video before or done much with film at all but I want to learn how to do that so this is experiment one."

The band has announced live shows in London, Manchester, and Glasgow in support of the release.

Whether the rebuilt lineup and Nolan's documented recovery reshape the band's absurdist confessionals into something harder-won will become clear when the album lands in January.
