Taylor Swift will release The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore this Friday, September 25. The 16-track release adds four new songs to her 2025 studio album The Life of a Showgirl, alongside updated artwork.

The announcement came less than 24 hours after Swift revealed the new song "Patient Zero." The Encore is the latest in a crowded family of Showgirl editions, following The Life of a Showgirl + Acoustic Collection, The Life of a Showgirl: So Glamorous Cabaret Version, and The Life of a Showgirl: So Punk on the Internet Version.

In a statement, Swift traced the new record to a celebratory trip to Sweden with her collaborators Max Martin and Shellback. "About a year ago, you guys did a truly unfathomable thing. Something that completely blew my mind…," Swift wrote. "You gave The Life of a Showgirl the biggest first week for an album in history. I took a trip to Sweden to celebrate with Max and Shellback, my two collaborators on this album."

The getaway turned into a writing session. "Really we just wanted to reflect and take in how grateful we were for the moment we were in, but there was a studio there and we did what we do when we feel anything at all: We wrote more songs," Swift continued. "I hope you love them, because they were born out of pure gratitude for your exuberance for and celebration of the album we made."

Swift released Showgirl, her 15th No. 1 album, last October. The year since has brought a string of institutional honors. She was inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the National Recording Registry, and premiered the original song "I Knew It, I Knew You" for Toy Story 5.

This Sunday, Swift will receive the inaugural "Artist Director Honors" at the MTV Video Music Awards.
