Netflix has started production on Season 3 of "The Gentlemen" in the U.K. and Morocco, with Robert Carlyle, Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom joining the cast. The season will run eight 60-minute episodes, Netflix confirmed.

All three actors are first-time collaborators with Guy Ritchie, the series creator. For Wood and Bloom, the show marks a reunion two decades after they co-starred in the "Lord of the Rings" films. Carlyle is known for "Line of Duty," Wood for "Yellowjackets" and Bloom for "The Cut."

Who else is joining?

The new additions extend beyond the headline trio:

  • Dexter Fletcher ("Band of Brothers"), who appeared in Ritchie's "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels"
  • Bruna Marquezine ("Benefits With Friends")
  • Ed Speleers ("You")
  • Saffron Burrows ("You")
  • Bugzy Malone ("Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre")

They join leads Theo James and Kaya Scodelario as Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass. The pair built their partnership inside the criminal underworld after Eddie inherited Halstead Manor. In plain terms, the show's core duo stays intact while the supporting roster grows.

Which cast members are returning?

Ray Winstone returns as Susie's kingpin father Bobby Glass. Joely Richardson is back as Eddie's mother, Lady Sabrina. Vinnie Jones returns as groundskeeper Geoff.

Also listed: Jasmine Blackborow as Eddie's sister Charly, Harry Goodwins as Susie's brother Jack, Benjamin Clementine as Charly's husband and Maya Jama as Aisha.

Notably absent from the returning list: Daniel Ings, who played Eddie's older, troubled brother Freddy across the first two seasons. Giancarlo Esposito, the American billionaire Stanley Johnston, is also not listed as returning.

What is Season 3 about?

Netflix released the logline: "Eddie (Theo James) and Susie (Kaya Scodelario) embark upon their most audacious project yet: building a casino in the Middle East. But with danger lurking around every corner, has the Duke's unchecked ambition finally gone too far?"

The casino plot shifts the action beyond the English estate setting of earlier seasons. That geographic expansion explains the Morocco shoot alongside U.K. production.

Who is making it?

Moonage Pictures produces the series for Netflix and Miramax TV. Ritchie created the series and co-writes with Matthew Read. Ritchie and Evan Creevy direct.

Executive producers are Guy Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson, Matthew Read, Will Gould, Simon Crawford Collins and Frith Tiplady for Moonage Pictures, alongside Jonathan Glickman and Alix Jaffe for Miramax TV and Theo James.

Ritchie addressed the scale of the new season in a statement issued when the August renewal was confirmed. "The ambition of 'The Gentlemen' has accelerated, the world has expanded and the consequences carry weight," he said. "A third season felt inevitable, and I'm looking forward to pushing the boundaries of it further."

What happened with the Meghan Markle rumors?

Variety exclusively confirmed the Season 3 renewal in August. Rumors had surfaced that Meghan Markle might join the cast. The deal ultimately did not happen, and she does not appear on the announced cast list.

Season 2 launched in September. Its logline read: "It's been one year since Eddie and Susie joined forces to work together in Bobby's criminal empire overseas. As they drive to expand their enterprise, the decisions Bobby is making seem to be increasingly unsound. Now Eddie and Susie must decide whether to take action or risk losing it all, but unfettered ambition never ends well."

With a Middle East casino at its center, three blockbuster-scale new leads and two major characters gone, Season 3 marks the series' biggest reset since its launch.
