Sam Worthington and Sofia Carson will star in and executive produce "The Parsifal Mosaic," a drama series based on Robert Ludlum's 1982 spy novel now in development at Hulu.

Legendary Entertainment produces the adaptation with writer Wes Tooke, who served as showrunner on USA Network's "Colony" and worked on Amazon's "Jean-Claude Van Johnson."

The official logline reads: "After years of dangerous field work for the CIA, Michael Havelock (Worthington) is ready to get out of the game when he learns that his partner Jenna Karas (Carson) — secretly the love of his life — has betrayed him, and begins unravelling a powerful conspiracy that reaches around the globe."

Worthington takes the role of Havelock, a burned-out CIA operative whose planned exit collapses the moment he discovers Jenna Karas, his hidden love, has betrayed him. Carson plays Karas. The betrayal sets off a global conspiracy that spans the series' plot.

The project has a long screen history. Universal Pictures announced a film adaptation in 2009, with Ron Howard attached to direct. A few years later, Zhang Yimou was in talks to direct. Neither version reached production.

Tooke executive produces alongside Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner of Captivate Entertainment, director Seth Gordon, and stars Worthington and Carson.

Worthington is represented by WME, Anonymous Content, and Hansen Jacobson Teller Hoberman Newman Warren Richman Rush Kaller Gellman Meigs & Fox. Carson is repped by WME, Ziffren Brittenham and Kleinberg Lange Cuddy & Carlo.

The series remains in development, with no premiere date announced. If it reaches the screen, it will finally bring a novel that has eluded filmmakers for over a decade to audiences.
